A few months back Treehouse released a Laravel Basics course and I finally had a chance to sit down and go through the lessons. The course is being led by Hampton Paulk and he takes you through all the basic steps to get up and running with Laravel.
“Learning a new framework can be daunting, but it’s also exciting.” – Together we will learn the basics of the PHP framework Laravel.
The course is broken out into the following sections:
- Getting Started with Laravel
- Project Setup
- Laravel Controllers
- Laravel and Databases
- Blade & Forms
- Validation & Flash Messages
- Continuing CRUD
- Relating Data
Inside each section includes several lessons and a question/answer test. I liked the test, as long as you pay attention you shouldn’t have any problems getting them all correct but it’s a nice touch and helps reinforce what you’ve just watched. Here is an example of one of the questions:
For each section the videos are highly polished and the section includes teachers notes, a written transcript, and relevant downloads. It’s a great learning environment and also nice that most videos run under 10 minutes. Another advantage is you can download all the videos with iTunes if you are wanting to watch offline.
Now that I’ve went through these I think this is a highly relevant resource and one I would definitely recommend for learning Laravel.
