Bitbucket announces a coming price increase image

This week Bitbucket has announced a new price increase that will be coming soon. The current pricing model is $1 per user and purchased in packs of 10, 25, 50, and 100. So if you had eight users on the account, you would pay $10 a month. When the new pricing comes out these same eight users will now cost $16 a month for the standard plan and $40 for the premium plan.

In our current model, unless you have exactly 10, 25, 50 or 100 users, you can end up paying for seats you don’t use. In the new pricing model (price-per-user) you only pay for the users who are actually part of your team. The Standard plan includes the Bitbucket you love at $2/user/month. The Premium plan at $5/user/month is for teams that require granular admin controls, security and auditing. Bitbucket Cloud will still be free for small teams of up to 5 users.

With this future change in pricing, it will still be less expensive than GitHub at $9 a user a month but more than GitLab who still offers a free plan. Bitbucket will continue offering it’s free plan for small teams up to five users.

Corrections: The original post left off that Bitbucket is continuing their free plan
