If you prefer visuals, check out this video highlighting what’s available in PhpStorm 2020.3:
PHP 8 Language Support
PhpStorm 2020.3 offers full PHP 8 support with inspections that highlight incorrect code usage with accompanying quick-fixes.
The IDE will also support various custom PHP 8 attributes out of the box. For example, with the #[Immutable]
attribute on a class or property, PhpStorm will check the usage of objects and mark change attempts as invalid:
#[Immutable]class Example{ public function __construct( public string $greeting ) {}} $example = new Example('Hello');// PhpStorm will mark this line as invalid$example->greeting = 'Goodbye';
Static Analysis Tools
PhpStorm 2020.3 comes with support for two popular static analysis tools in PHP: Psalm and PHPStan. Starting with this release, PhpStorm has first-class support for these tools, which will help you highlight problems in the editor and better support for Psalm annotations.
Code With Me
Code With Me is a first-party service by Jetbrains for remote collaborative development and pair programming, and it now comes bundled in PhpStorm 2020.3. It provides simultaneous editing and permissions management so you can control what code is editable, read-only, or hidden from others.
Tailwind CSS
PhpStorm 2020.3 offers first-party support, which can help you with auto-complete classes in HTML files and after the @apply
directive. It also provides auto-complete suggestions for pseudo-class variants. It even has support for customizations you make in the tailwind.config.js
configuration file and provides completion for your customizations.
