GitHub announced that GitHub Desktop 1.0 is now available.

The new GitHub Desktop version has been revamped and redesigned with Electron, which provides the same experience on both Mac and Windows:

A few months ago, we completely redesigned and reimplemented GitHub Desktop on Electron to provide a simpler, more unified experience. The public beta launched in May. Since then we’ve been hard at work fixing bugs, adding features, and responding to feedback—but now we’re ready for prime time. Here’s an overview of what you’ll see in 1.0.

The new version also includes image diffs, and you can now open up your project in your favorite editor and terminal of choice from GitHub Desktop.

Another great addition is faster cloning from the GitHub to your desktop. On Mac, the shortcut Cmd+Shift+O will allow you to search your remote repositories and pull them down without leaving the app.

The new application also works with GitHub enterprise edition.
