Something incredible just happened: Filament now runs natively inside an Android app thanks to you!
Yes — that Filament. The beautiful, powerful admin panel system built for Laravel. The one you already love using in the browser. Now it’s running in a full-featured, offline-first mobile app — powered by Laravel and PHP, compiled to run on-device.
This is not a future dream. It’s here. It works. One milestone down, many more to come.
But we didn’t get here alone.
This Is What Your Support Made Possible
Since launching NativePHP for Mobile, we’ve been blown away by the support from the Laravel community. Thousands of developers showed up to say: yes, I want to build native mobile apps with the tools I already know.
And thanks to your early backing, we were able to make big bets — and solve big problems.
- ✅ We launched Android support in May, following on the heels of iOS.
- ✅ We added hot reload, so you can see changes live without rebuilding.
- ✅ We began work on OTA updates, build distribution, Zephpyr, and more.
And now, we’ve crossed one of our biggest hurdles yet: supporting the intl extension, which Filament and other modern Laravel packages depend on.
The Challenge: Making intl Work on Android
Getting Filament to work inside a mobile app meant bringing over a big piece of technology that PHP depends on for formatting — called ICU. Normally, this lives on servers and works behind the scenes when you need things like dates, currencies, and number formatting to display correctly.
But on Android, it’s a whole different world. We had to build ICU from scratch, change how it works, and make sure it played nicely with everything else in the app. It wasn’t easy — the process was long, full of surprises, and involved a lot of trial and error.
But we did it.
Filament now works natively on Android. Fully. Seamlessly. Offline.
Forms. Tables. Dashboards. Everything you love about Filament — running inside a real mobile app, powered by Laravel, no server required.
The Tradeoff: A Bigger App — But a Better Experience
Including ICU adds about 30MB to the app size. That’s the cost. But here’s what you get in return:
- 🌍 Automatic date, currency, and number formatting for any locale
- ⚙️ Full support for Filament’s advanced components and filters
- 📦 Compatibility with more Laravel packages out of the box
And best of all? It works offline. Your entire Laravel app — with all its power — runs right from your phone.
What's Next
We’re actively working to bring the same support to iOS. And we’re not stopping there.
Here’s what’s coming soon:
- 🚀 A unified build and distribution platform via Zephpyr
- 📦 Smaller binary variants for apps that don’t need
intl - ✨ More first-class support for Laravel packages and native APIs
- 🛠 Better CLI tools to manage installs, updates, and device syncing
We’re building this future with you — in the open, fast, and fearlessly.
Let’s Keep Making History Together
Filament on Android is a turning point.
Not just because we solved a gnarly technical problem. But because it proves something bigger:
Laravel isn’t just for the web anymore.
With NativePHP, we’re building a bridge to the next generation of mobile experiences — powered by the tools Laravel developers already know and love.
We couldn’t have done this without the support of the community. You helped us believe this was possible. And we’re going to keep delivering — fast, bold, and together.
Thank you for helping us make history.
Now go build something amazing.
