Interviews

Laravel 12 and Laravel Shift with Jason McCreary

Published

We are joined by Jason McCreary (JMac) to discuss the upcoming release of Laravel 12, the importance of small improvements in the framework, and the role of Laravel Shift in making our lives easier.

Laravel Shift

Jason's main product is Laravel Shift, and it will take a Laravel app and automatically upgrade it or shift it to the next version. Handling everything automatically through incremental pull requests.

We use this every year on the Laravel News site; honestly, there is no easier way to stay current.

Laravel Shift as a community service

Another useful feature Laravel Shift provides is automatically sending PRs to Laravel Packages so they are ready the day a major release comes out.

We touch on this in the interview and it's such a great community service and helps everyone be able to upgrade on the day of a major release.
