Interviews

PHP Pie with James Titcumb

Published

I sat down with James Titcumb to talk about his latest work on PHP Pie — a new project designed to modernize and streamline how developers build and run PHP applications. James has been part of the PHP community for more than two decades, and in this interview, he shares his journey, why this project matters, and where it’s headed.

“PHP has evolved a lot since the early days. With Pie, we’re trying to make the development experience smoother and more consistent, while setting the stage for what’s next.” — James Titcumb

What is PHP Pie?

PHP Pie is a new initiative within the PHP ecosystem that aims to make PHP projects easier to build, distribute, and run. Backed by the PHP Foundation, the project introduces new tooling and workflows that could have a big impact on how developers work with PHP in the coming years.

During our conversation, James explained the motivation behind the project, some of the challenges it aims to solve, and how it fits into the broader PHP landscape.
