SPOTcon 2022 is the latest digital conference for developers from around the world to meet, engage with, and learn about solutions that drive leading-edge transformation in application development and observability. We are focused on hosting the best community event for developers by offering informative sessions presented by industry-leading experts. To keep our promise to this mission, we are excited to announce the speakers for SPOTcon 2022.

Scott Ernst: VP of Data and Engineering at Camber Partners

Scott has held senior technical and leadership roles at numerous startups over the last fifteen years for both application and data engineering organizations. He got his start in the gaming and VFX industry. After that he co-founded an early cloud tooling startup that participated in Mozilla's Web FWD accelerator. Later when the data science and engineering space took off, his PhD in computational physics led him down the ML/AI path where he led technical data teams for a number of startups. There were also a few years in between doing computational paleontology for the Swiss government along the way. Most recently Scott has been helping to lead product and engineering efforts at Scout on the road from APM monitoring to next-generation observability.

Kat Cosgrove: Staff Developer Advocate at Pulumi Corporation

Kat Cosgrove is a Developer Advocate, a CNCF Ambassador, and an actual cyborg. Her professional background has run the gamut from bartender, to video store clerk, to teacher, to software engineer. She credits this wide-ranging experience for her success as a speaker, developer, and advocate. You can usually find her speaking about DevOps or cloud native technologies, particularly 101-level content, in pursuit of her goal of increasing accessibility for these tools.

When she's not building demos or at a conference, she spends her time playing video games, watching horror movies, and reading science fiction. She lives in Seattle with her cat, Espresso, who is the real brains behind the operation. Espresso may be ghostwriting her tweets.

Mike Hartington: Developer Advocate at Ionic

Mike Hartington is a developer working at Ionic. As a speaker, Mike aims to help developers through empowerment and education. He will also try to talk your ear off about music, guitar, and making furniture.

Shai Almog: Developer Advocate at Lightrun

Developer advocate for Lightrun, co-founder of Codename One, Creator of DDT, open source hacker, speaker, author, blogger, Java rockstar and more. ex-Sun/Oracle guy with 30 years of professional development experience. Shai built virtual machines, development tools, mobile phone environments, banking systems, startup/enterprise backends, user interfaces, development frameworks and much more. Shai is an award winning speaker at conferences all over the world who shared the stage with luminaries such as James Gossling (father of Java).

James Hunt: Principal Consultant / Founding Member at Vivanti Consulting

James Hunt is Principal Consultant and Founding Member of Vivanti Consulting and is based in Buffalo, NY. He has authored dozens of Open Source projects, including SHIELD, Safe, Spruce, and Genesis.

James has spoken at several Linux Foundation events, including Cloud Foundry Summits, as well as private events, and training sessions.

Coraline Ada Ehmke: Founder of the Organization for Ethical Source

Coraline Ada Ehmke is an internationally recognized engineer and activist with almost three decades of industry experience. She is best known as the creator of Contributor Covenant, the first and most popular code of conduct for open source communities. She was honored with the Ruby Hero award in 2016 for her work on diversity, inclusion, and equity in open source. She is the author of the Hippocratic License, an open license designed to protect human rights. Most recently, she co-founded the Organization for Ethical Source and serves as its Executive Director.

Mary Thengvall: Director of Developer Relations at Camunda

Mary Thengvall is a connector of people at heart, personally and professionally. She loves digging into the strategy of how to build and foster developer communities and has been doing so for over 10 years. Mary is the Director of Developer Relations at Camunda, an open source process automation platform. She's the author of the first book on Developer Relations: The Business Value of Developer Relations.

Gautam Rege: Co Founder and Director at Josh Software

Gautam has over 15 years of experience in the IT industry. He has worked for various large Multi-nationals companies as well as startups. He co-founded Josh Software in 2007, India's leading company that works in Ruby on Rails, GoLang, React, and other modern technologies.

Chris DeMars: Developer Advocate

Chris DeMars is a front-end developer turned developer advocate from Detroit, Michigan. For his community contributions, he holds awards as a Microsoft MVP in developer technologies, Google Developer Expert in web technologies, Cloudinary Media Developer Expert, and Auth0 Ambassador. Chris loves coming up with solutions for all types of applications, which include modular CSS architectures, performance, and advocating for web accessibility. When he is not working on making the web great and inclusive you can find him writing blog posts, recording episodes of his podcast, Tales From The Script, or watching horror movies.

Dave Anderson: CTO at Scout APM

In over 20 years in IT and Tech, Dave has served as a Systems/Network/Cloud Infrastructure Engineer, Software Developer, Site Reliability Engineer, and CTO. With a broad technical background across infrastructure design, operation, and software development, he is passionate about designing and building observability products that provide answers to the complex problems facing modern Software and DevOps Engineering teams. Current interests focus on emerging technologies, including languages and runtimes like Rust and WebAssembly, Cloud r/evolution, and how to best enable observability among new and existing technologies through OpenTelemetry.

PJ Hagerty: Founder of DevRelate.io

PJ is the founder of DevRelate.io and a board member of Open Sourcing Mental Health (OSMHhelp.org). He is an organizer of DevOps Days Buffalo, CodeDaze, and ElixirDaze. Additionally, PJ is a developer, writer, speaker, and musician. He is known to travel the world speaking about programming and the way people think and interact. He is also known for wearing hats.
