A new book titled Laravel for the Rest of Us by Pete Heslop, Managing Director of Steadfast Collective and an official Laravel Partner, will be released worldwide on November 18, 2025. The goal is to make Laravel understandable for non-technical readers such as founders, project managers, and decision-makers who work closely with developers.
Laravel powers millions of applications worldwide. Yet for many outside the development community, terms like controllers, queues, and routing can be confusing. Heslop’s mission is to help teams communicate more effectively by translating developer language into clear, simple explanations.
"This book exists to build a shared language between developers and decision-makers, empowering better communication and smoother projects," said Heslop.
What’s Inside

The book includes a foreword by Taylor Otwell, the creator of Laravel. It covers topics such as:
- The basics of open source and why Laravel thrives within it
- Hosting and APIs explained for non-technical audiences
- How to manage Laravel teams and understand their processes
- A guided overview of the Laravel ecosystem, including Eloquent and Pest
"Laravel for the Rest of Us treats Laravel the way we always try to treat it ourselves: as a practical tool that helps people just get stuff done," wrote Otwell. "It shows the value of the ecosystem and the importance of clear communication between technical and non-technical roles."
Giving Back
All profits from the book will be donated to Larabelles, a global community founded by Zuzana Kunckova that supports women and non-binary people in Laravel and the broader PHP ecosystem. Larabelles focuses on mentorship, visibility, and education to create a more inclusive and welcoming tech industry.
This project was never about profit. It’s about improving communication across our industry and giving back to the community that has given us so much.
